Another home remedy for head lice is Tea Tree Oil and it has been around for a long time, it originally comes from Australia and is another option for a home remedy for head lice. Tea Tree Oil is called Melaleuca Alternifolia and is distilled from the leaves and branches of the tea tree of note the Myrtle tree. A common method for using tea tree oil to deal with head lice is to add five to ten drops of the pure oil into shampoo that does not contain a conditioner or other detanglers, creams or rinses in it. Now massage the shampoo in like usual, but be more thorough and really give that scalp a work out. Then cover the head of the affected person with a shower cap and wait for half an hour. This remedy will trap lice so you can use a nit comb like the one in LiceOut or LiceMeister to remove the head lice and nits. Another home remedy for head lice is called HairClean 1-2-3 and it is also pesticide free and has coconut, anise, and ylang ylang oils in it. A study that was performed at the University of Miami in Florida determined that HairClean 1-2-3 to be effective and a non-toxic product for use in the treatment of a head lice infestation.
